Cookie Policy

Last updated: January 1, 2025

This Cookie Policy explains how Pegasi, Inc. ("Pegasi," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit our website at pegasiio.com (the "Site") or access our health data intelligence platform (the "Platform"). This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

By continuing to browse the Site or use the Platform, you agree to our use of cookies and similar technologies as described in this Cookie Policy. You may change your preferences at any time using the controls described in Section 6 below.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer, smartphone, tablet, or other device when you visit a website or use an application. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, to provide a better user experience, and to provide information to the owners of the website or application.

Cookies can be classified in several ways:

1.1 By Duration

  • Session Cookies — These are temporary cookies that are deleted when you close your browser. They are used to maintain session state (for example, keeping you logged in while navigating between pages).
  • Persistent Cookies — These cookies remain on your device for a specified period (or until you delete them). They are used to remember your preferences and settings between visits.

1.2 By Origin

  • First-Party Cookies — Cookies placed directly by Pegasi on our Site or Platform.
  • Third-Party Cookies — Cookies placed by third-party services that appear on our Site or Platform (such as analytics providers). These third parties may collect information about your online activities across different websites.

2. Types of Cookies We Use

We use the following categories of cookies on the Site and Platform. For each category, we describe their purpose and the specific cookies used where known.

2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the Site and Platform to function correctly. They enable core functionality such as user authentication, session management, and security controls. Without these cookies, services you have requested cannot be provided.

These cookies do not require your consent because they are technically necessary to provide the service.

Cookie Name Purpose Duration Type
pegasi_session Maintains user authentication state during Platform sessions Session First-party
pegasi_csrf Cross-site request forgery protection token Session First-party
pegasi_sec Detects and prevents fraudulent or bot traffic 1 hour First-party
pegasi_cookie_consent Stores your cookie consent choice (localStorage key) 1 year First-party (localStorage)

2.2 Functional Cookies

Functional cookies allow the Site and Platform to remember choices you make and provide enhanced, more personalized features. For example, these cookies can be used to remember your login credentials (if you choose "stay signed in"), your display preferences, or your geographic region for localized content. The information these cookies collect is anonymized and they cannot track your browsing activity on other websites.

Cookie Name Purpose Duration Type
pegasi_prefs Remembers user interface preferences (column layout, sorting, dashboard configuration) 6 months First-party
pegasi_locale Stores language and locale settings 1 year First-party
pegasi_remember_me Enables "stay signed in" functionality when user opts in 30 days First-party
pegasi_notifications Tracks which system notifications or banners have been dismissed 3 months First-party

2.3 Analytics and Performance Cookies

Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the Site and Platform by collecting and reporting aggregate information. This includes understanding which pages are visited most frequently, how users navigate through the Platform, and which features are used most often. We use this information to improve the performance and usability of our services. The data collected by analytics cookies is aggregated and does not identify individual users.

Cookie Name Purpose Duration Type
_ga Google Analytics — distinguishes unique visitors; aggregates page view and session data 2 years Third-party (Google)
_ga_[ID] Google Analytics 4 — maintains session state for analytics reporting 2 years Third-party (Google)
_gid Google Analytics — distinguishes users for daily activity tracking 24 hours Third-party (Google)
_gat Google Analytics — rate throttling for requests to the analytics service 1 minute Third-party (Google)
pegasi_perf Tracks page load times and API response performance for internal monitoring Session First-party

2.4 Marketing and Targeting Cookies

Marketing cookies may be used to deliver advertisements relevant to your interests. These cookies collect information about your browsing habits and are used to make our marketing communications more relevant to you. Pegasi's primary users are healthcare institutions and clinical professionals, and we do not engage in consumer-targeted advertising. However, our Site may include features powered by third-party services that may set marketing cookies to track interactions with our content.

Cookie Name Purpose Duration Type
_hs_opt_in HubSpot — records opt-in or opt-out of marketing tracking 13 months Third-party (HubSpot)
hubspotutk HubSpot — tracks visitor identity for de-duplication in lead forms 13 months Third-party (HubSpot)
__hstc HubSpot — tracks visitor browsing history and session attribution 13 months Third-party (HubSpot)
__hssc HubSpot — tracks session attribution for analytics 30 minutes Third-party (HubSpot)

3. Similar Tracking Technologies

In addition to cookies, we may use the following similar technologies:

3.1 LocalStorage and SessionStorage

We use the browser's localStorage API to store your cookie consent preference under the key pegasi_cookie_consent. This data is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers. Unlike cookies, localStorage data does not expire automatically; however, you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

3.2 Web Beacons and Pixel Tags

Our email communications and some web pages may contain small image files known as web beacons or pixel tags. These technologies help us understand whether you have opened an email, visited a particular page, or clicked a link. Web beacons do not access or read information stored on your device.

3.3 Log Files and Server-Side Analytics

Like most web servers, our servers automatically record certain information when you access the Site, including your IP address (truncated to the subnet level for privacy), browser type and version, referring URLs, pages visited, and timestamps. This server-side logging does not rely on cookies and is used exclusively for security monitoring and infrastructure capacity planning.

3.4 API Tokens

Authenticated access to the Pegasi Platform API relies on bearer tokens or API keys rather than cookies. These tokens are issued to registered users and institutional accounts, and are governed separately by the Terms of Service.

4. Healthcare Data and Cookies

Pegasi is acutely aware of the sensitivity of health-related information. We maintain strict separation between:

  • Site-level tracking (cookies described in this policy) — used for website analytics, performance, and marketing on pegasiio.com;
  • Platform-level session management — strictly necessary cookies used within the authenticated Platform environment to maintain secure user sessions; and
  • Clinical Data processing — Protected Health Information (PHI) processed within the Platform under the Business Associate Agreement, which is governed entirely by HIPAA, the BAA, and the Privacy Policy, and is never shared with advertising or analytics third parties.

No PHI or de-identified patient data is ever stored in or transmitted through cookies or browser storage mechanisms. Analytics and marketing cookies described in this policy operate exclusively at the marketing website level and do not have access to clinical or patient information.

5. Third-Party Cookies and Services

Some cookies on our Site are placed by third-party services that we have integrated. We do not have direct control over these cookies. Below is a summary of the third-party services that may set cookies and links to their respective privacy and cookie policies:

  • Google Analytics — Web analytics service operated by Google LLC. Google Privacy Policy | Google Analytics Opt-out
  • HubSpot — Marketing automation and CRM platform operated by HubSpot, Inc. HubSpot Privacy Policy
  • Cloudflare — Content delivery network and security services. Cloudflare may set cookies related to security (bot detection) at the network layer. Cloudflare Privacy Policy

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these third parties to understand their data collection practices. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of these third-party websites or services.

6. Managing and Disabling Cookies

You have multiple options for controlling the cookies set on your device:

6.1 Cookie Consent Banner

When you first visit the Pegasi Site, a cookie consent banner is displayed. You may click "Accept" to consent to the use of all cookies described in this policy, or "Decline" to reject non-essential cookies. Your choice is stored in your browser's localStorage under the key pegasi_cookie_consent. To change your choice, clear your browser's localStorage or cookies for the pegasiio.com domain and reload the page.

6.2 Browser Settings

Most browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can:

  • View and delete cookies stored by specific websites;
  • Block all cookies (note: this may prevent certain features from working correctly);
  • Set your browser to notify you when a site attempts to set a cookie;
  • Use private or incognito mode to prevent cookies from being stored persistently.

Instructions for managing cookies in popular browsers:

  • Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
  • Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Apple Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data

6.3 Google Analytics Opt-Out

To opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on provided by Google.

6.4 Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that signals to websites that you do not want your browsing activities tracked. At present, there is no universally accepted standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals. Our Site does not currently respond to DNT signals from browsers. You may use the options described above to manage your privacy preferences.

6.5 Impact of Disabling Cookies

Disabling strictly necessary cookies may prevent you from logging in to or using the authenticated Platform. Disabling functional cookies may mean that your preferences are not saved between sessions. Disabling analytics cookies will not affect your ability to use the Site or Platform but will prevent us from improving our services based on aggregate usage data.

7. Data Retention

The retention periods for individual cookies are listed in the tables in Section 2. In general:

  • Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser.
  • Persistent cookies expire after the duration shown in the tables, unless you delete them earlier through your browser settings.
  • LocalStorage data (such as your consent preference) persists until you clear it manually or clear all site data for pegasiio.com.
  • Analytics data collected by third-party services such as Google Analytics is retained by those services according to their own retention policies, typically up to twenty-six (26) months for user-level data.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights regarding the personal data collected about you through cookies, including:

  • Right to know — the categories of personal data collected about you and the purposes for which it is used;
  • Right to delete — the personal data associated with cookies that have been set on your device;
  • Right to opt out — of the sale or sharing of your personal data with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising (applicable under CCPA/CPRA);
  • Right to non-discrimination — you will not receive different quality of service if you exercise your privacy rights.

To exercise these rights, please contact us using the information in Section 9 below, or use the browser-based controls described in Section 6.

9. Changes to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the services we offer, or changes in applicable law. When we update this policy, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Cookie Policy periodically to stay informed about our use of cookies. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the Site or by other means as appropriate.
